Employee Spotlight: Michael (Senior Architect)

Employee Spotlight Michael Sheedy

Q: How long have you been employed at B. Thayer Associates?
A: 10 ½ years.

Q: What has been your most memorable moment at B. Thayer Associates?
A: A few years after joining B. Thayer in its Woodbury office, the firm established a second office in Long Island City. This expansion brought in employees from New York City adding more variety to the firm and adding NYC presence for the NYC clients. The Marcum Challenge event which takes place every summer is also always enjoyable combining a running race with a barbeque; as well as the Beaujolais (wine) Party which is fairly unique to BTA amongst design firms.

Q: What’s your favorite part about working at B. Thayer Associates?
A: Working collaboratively with my co-workers as well as working with other members of our project teams.

Q: What are three career lessons you have learned thus far?
A: While the overall design has always been important to me, in order for that design to be successful there must be attention to detail, which also requires that QA/QC procedures are followed through. Another important lesson is the importance of consistent communication within the project team, and interdisciplinary coordination between all disciplines.
