PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Town of North Hempstead sought an engineering firm to evaluate, design and improve the Parking Lot 4 situated in Port Washington at the intersection of Maple Street and Maryland Avenue. The parking lot serves commuters using the LIRR, customers using the local shops on Main Street as well as merchants for loading immediately adjacent to the parking lot, thus public outreach and community relations were extremely important to the Town as the project also sought to find a balance between design restrictions and community expectations. Scope of work included:
  • Movement analysis of vehicles
  • Review of existing and proposed utilities
  • Sign inventory
  • Streetscape and ROW improvements
  • Grading and drainage
  • Lighting and site landscaping
  • Topographic/boundary survey
  • 6 concepts to maximize parking and traffic flow
  • Cost estimates
  • Construction Management and Inspection
