PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Our landscape architects conducted infrastructure inventories and condition assessments of horizontal assets for pedestrian walkways, parks, plazas, and esplanades owned by the Battery Park City Authority (BPCA) in lower Manhattan. An Infrastructure Assessment and Resiliency Report identified condition assessments, energy audits, and life–cycle analysis including projects of capital investment. Horizontal assets data collected included:
  • Documentation assessment of surface material conditions
  • As-built drawings for total material quantity takeoffs
  • Locate areas of settlement, subsidence or sinkhole activity for needed repairs
  • Assess adequacy of lighting using photometric readings for pedestrian lighting
  • Assess the integrity of the masonry and timber structures in several parks
  • Analyze potential effects of future flood water inundation
  • Inspect irrigation and drainage systems, water features, and mechanical/plumbing equipment for maintenance plans
