Perched atop a hill in the City of Yonkers, Hillview Reservoir was
constructed in the early years of the 20th century as the terminus to the
Catskill Aqueduct. The reservoir has a capacity of approximately 900
million gallons and supplies drinking water to New York City through
two water tunnels. Throughout the 100-year history of the facility, no
comprehensive boundary, topographical or utility survey of the entire
155-acre parcel has ever been recorded. B. Thayer Associates was
conracted by New York City Department of Environmental Protection
(NYCDEP) to lead a team of consultants to rectify this situation.
Scope of work included:
- Boundary/ Utility survey
- Topographical mapping
- Survey control
