Landscape Designer (2-5 Years Exp)

B. Thayer Associates (BTA) is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm offering Landscape Architecture, Arboriculture, Architecture, Surveying, Civil & Structural Engineering services in the Greater New York and Tri-State region. Our firm is seeking candidates with strong design and technical abilities to fill positions as a Landscape Designer/Landscape Architect and Arborist in our growing studios in Long Island City, NY and Woodbury, NY (Long Island). BTA is currently working on diverse and exciting large-scale public infrastructure projects including parks, green infrastructure, and transportation-oriented improvements.

The successful candidates shall be highly motivated, self-starting, and resourceful team players with attention to detail. They ideally would have experience working and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and other disciplines (e.g. engineers, architects, and marketing) on projects in the public realm. In addition, qualified candidates shall possess the following skills/qualifications:

  • Proven design ability in landscape architectural work
  • High level of professionalism and excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Plant identification, field experience, and horticultural/ arboriculture knowledge
  • Wetland/ environmental permitting background or training
  • Understanding of design development and construction document preparation
  • Advanced digital visualization skills and superb freehand graphics
  • Strong ability in AutoCAD, Land F/X, Adobe CS, Deltek Vision, and MS Office
  • Knowledge of 3D rendering software such as Rhino, Revit, SketchUp, 3DS Max, and Lumion preferred
  • ArcView GIS and Microstation experience a plus

    Bachelor or Master in Landscape Architecture
