The Town of Babylon contracted B. Thayer Associates to develop a sustainable landscape that would provide a proper walkway to connect the park’s recreational facilities. B. Thayer’s survey crew provided a topographic survey to the design team. B. Thayer landscape architects worked closely with the Town to develop a plan that would be functional for park users and also alleviate persistent flooding issues. The design plan features the use of several Best Management Practices (BMPs), including several large bioswales, permeable crushed stone pathways, seating areas with permeable pavers, and a planting plan that uses primarily native plants. The BMP design handles the area runoff, resolving the drainage issues, while using minimum underground containment structures.
