B. Thayer Associates provided Landscape Architectural Design and Arboriculture Services for the restoration of areas disturbed during the installation of a direct buried High Temperature Water Line piping system at the State University of New York at Stony Brook under the State University Construction Fund. Work on Phase I began in 2006, Phase II in 2011, and CSS for both were recently completed.
The project consisted of the field identification of trees, shrubs, perennials, lawn areas, planting beds, woodland areas as well as the inventory of pathways and dormitory areas being disturbed by the construction. Services included preliminary and final design, bid documents, cost estimate and specifications. Construction Support Services include review and approval of contractor submittals and shop drawings, plant material, change orders, substitutions, contractor coordination, and install, punch-list and guarantee period inspections.
The B. Thayer Associates team is working closely with the SUNY Stony Brook landscape manager, landscape contractors, campus operations and maintenance staff to ensure the successful replanting of the campus gardens and woodlands.
