The Suffolk County Department of Parks was seeking an A&E firm to aide in the implementation of their improvement program for their maintenance and operations facility at the West Sayville County Golf Course. The existing facility was outdated, undersized and in need of renovations and additional space. B. Thayer Associates is providing architectural, engineering, landscape architectural, and land surveying services for the renovation, alteration, and expansion of the facility and modifications and improvements to the site. The renovation and upgrade will allow for the proper maintenance and storage of equipment, tools, and supplies; and as such will help minimize losses due to weather, theft, and vandalism.

Some key elements to the facility improvement include:

  • New heated equipment storage and maintenance areas
  • New office areas, break room, lockers and bathroom with shower
  • LEED and sustainable design
  • Hazardous materials storage
  • Expanded bulk materials storage with additional bins
  • Utility upgrades
  • Improved drainage & Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan
  • Automatic heavy equipment wash-down facility
  • Improved site traffic movement with new semi-trailer access from street and within site
  • Expanded and improved parking
  • Landscape screening from golf course and street
  • Topographic survey
